About Me

My name is Angela.

I was born hearing, but over the decade I was in my twenties, my hearing deteriorated to the point where I came to call myself deaf. Something extraordinary happened the day I found out about Cochlear Implants and during my very last year in my twenties, I made a decision for myself and for my family to have the implant surgery.

Here in my diary you can start from the beginning and read bits and pieces from my last year dealing with deafness, and in more recent writings you can travel through my recovery from my initial surgery, my failed first activation, my revision surgery (yeah, it’s crazy here), and the successful activation of my implant. Ironically enough, I had surgery to receive my Cochlear Implant on September 13, 2010, my 30th birthday. After the revision surgery, my implant was activated on February 17, 2011, and my world suddenly turned from a shady gray to a brilliant burst of flamboyant colors.

I’m a wife, a mother of two, and a cake designer, and have also created this crazy blog to chronicle my radically new hearing life, my hobbies, and maybe a few little mishaps. I love my life, my family, and this place we call home.
